Alberto F Sabater Obituary (1940 - 2023)

Dr. Alberto Flestado Sabater was born on August 7, 1940 in Bikol, Philippines. He married Edwina Labot Paloma Sabater on June 7, 1969 Folkston, Georgia. Alberto possessed confidence, friendliness and tireless dedication to his family as well as his patients during his 48 years of pediatric practice. He graduated in 1966 University of Philippines College of Medicine and served his one year internship at St. Vincent de Paul of Des Moines, Iowa. He did three year residency in Jacksonville, Florida at Jacksonville University Hospitals. After his residency, he opened his own pediatric practice in Florida from 1970-1982. In 1983, Alberto and Edwina came to Brawley, California where he worked for Clinicas de Salud Del Pueblo until he retired in 2006. After retirement, he dedicated 4 months a year until 2014 in the satellite clinics in Brawley, El Centro, Coachella, Calexico and Winterhaven. In 2014, he finally retired to the Philippines and returned home yearly to visit family. In 2020, he returned home to be with wife and to seek medical care for his illness. Alberto is survived by his wife Edwina of 53 years and his brother Mars Stephen Del Villar of Irvine, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents Socorro and Manuel Sabater, as well as his siblings Rosario, Jose, and Manuel Jr. Dr. Alberto F. Sabater passed away at age 82, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District after a one month battle of acute kidney failure in ICU. Memorial services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 402 S. Imperial Avenue, Brawley, CA on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12 pm.
