Ascension C. ReyesMay 17, 1928 - February 14, 2022Ascension C. Reyes, 93, of Brawley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Ascension was born on May 17, 1928 to Marcos and Jesus Reyes. Chon, as family and friends knew him, attended Miguel Hidalgo School and Brawley Union High School. Ascension served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He met and married the love of his life, Sara Reyes, in 1959. He worked for Safeway Store for 42 years as a produce clerk and produce manager. Chon enjoyed spending time with his family, watching Dodger baseball, and working in his garden planting vegetables and tending to his roses. He was a hardworking, kind and generous man who had a strong faith in God. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Robert Reyes, siblings, Felice Avila, Manuel Reyes, Socorro Navarro, and Flora Reyes. He is survived by his wife, Sara Reyes of Brawley, his children, Christina Reyes, Maggie Cardenas(Michael), Ascension G. Reyes(Ruth), and grandchildren, Nicholas Cardenas, Isaac Reyes and Sarah Reyes. He is also survived by his siblings Ruben Reyes and Margarita Reyes, and numerous nieces and nephews.Services will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at Sacred Heart Church in Brawley with a Rosary at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 10:30. Interment at Riverview Cemetery will immediately follow the mass. The family respectfully asks that masks be worn during the services.
