Carlos V Valdivia Obituary (1934 - 2023)

Carlos Valdivia, also known as Charlie, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 89 in El Cajon, CA. He was born on May 19, 1934, in Beaumont, CA, to his late parents, Miguel and Isabel. Carlos leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Charlie led a fulfilling career in concrete construction for 25 years, where his hard work and dedication made a lasting impact in San Diego County. He took pride in his craftsmanship and contributed to numerous projects throughout his career including Interstate 8 and the Pine Valley Bridge. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed indulging in his hobbies. Gardening allowed him to nurture and appreciate the beauty of nature, while camping provided him with opportunities to explore and connect with the great outdoors. He also found joy in playing penny poker, engaging in friendly competition and camaraderie with friends and family. The family has fond memories of him playing cards with Lupe at the dining table. After a good game he would say, "I am the Champion of the world!". Charlie will be deeply missed by his surviving sons, Miguel (Renee), Carlos, David (Jodi), and Peter. Charlie and Lupe have 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. They carry his spirit and values forward, ensuring his legacy lives on. Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lupe, who shared a lifetime of love and memories with him. He was also preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Lilyana, whose memory will forever be cherished. A ceremony to honor Charlie's life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Frye Chapel in Brawley, CA, from 6 pm to 9 pm. A rosary will be held at 7 pm, providing an opportunity for loved ones to come together in prayer and reflection. Charlie had a deep appreciation for nature, and supporting this organization would honor his passion for preserving and caring for our environment.
