Radames Aviles Obituary (1951 - 2022)

On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, the Aviles family lost their Papa to natural causes. Radames Aviles, 71, of the Imperial Valley in California, passed at home after battling chronic illness and pain. Known to friends and colleagues as Ray, he later became the endearing Papa of everyone he met. Ray was born on August 31, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY. A son of Puerto Rican parents, he was a proud "Boricua" with ties to his ancestral home island and the island of New York. He served in the U.S. Army as a soldier in the Vietnam War, and later continued a life of service to others as a Registered Nurse until his retirement. Intelligent and curious, he was a memorable man. Although he may no longer be with us together, he will be in our hearts where he will remain forever. Aside from being survived by his Son, Radames Aviles Jr., Ray also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Maureen Aviles, Granddaughters Leslie Elizabeth and Caitlin Victoria Aviles, Beloved mother Maria Felicita Ortiz Sisters Judith Aviles and Gracie Aviles-Osorio. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 10th, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Brawley, CA. A funeral mass will follow directly thereafter.
