Sara D. ReyesJuly 17, 1937 - August 10, 2022Sara D. Reyes, 85, of Brawley, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2022 surrounded by her children. Sara was born on July 17, 1937, to Feliciano and Elena Duarte in Brawley, CA. She attended Miguel Hidalgo School, J. W. Oakley School, Barbara Worth Jr. High, and graduated from Brawley Union High School. Sara worked as a bookkeeper for her father's farming business before marrying her beloved husband, Ascension "Chon" Reyes in 1959. Sara was a homemaker and raised her three children. She was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Sara was very creative and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, drawing, and writing. She loved to share her beautiful crafts with her family. Sara and Chon were avid Dodger fans and never missed a game. She also loved gardening and was proud of her roses. Sara enjoyed camping and vacationing with her family. Sara is preceded in death by her beloved husband Chon, her parents, son, Robert, and siblings Nellie Acuna, Frances Raya, Maria Elena Mendibles, Feliciano Duarte, Eduardo Duarte and Catalina Duarte.Sara is survived by herChildren Christina Reyes, Maggie Cardenas (Michael) Ascension G. Reyes (Ruth) Grandchildren, Nicholas Cardenas, Isaac Reyes, and Sarah Reyes.She is also survived by her siblings Leonard Duarte, Nick Duarte, Raul Duarte, Daniel Duarte, Lina Duarte, Albert, Duarte, Sandra Perez, Susan Lucio, George Duarte, and Turie Duartenumerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church in Brawley with a rosary at 8:30 a.m. followed by mass at 9:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA We would like to thank Minnie Roman and Maribel Bravo for the many years of the wonderful care they provided to our parents.
