Sulema S Ruiz Obituary (1941 - 2022)

Beloved Mother, Grandma, and Great Grandma Sulema S. Ruiz passed away quietly on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She leaves behind children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Sue was born September 10, 1941, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Estevan & Donaciana Soto. When she was a small child, her family relocated to Calexico, California. Sue attended elementary school & high school in Calexico. While attending Calexico High School, she was a clerk at the Kress store in Calexico and during her senior year she was a songleader for the Bulldogs. After graduating from high school, she attended Imperial Valley College where she met her future husband Armando Ruiz. While attending IVC, Sue worked as a secretary at Rainbow Travel in El Centro. Sue & Armando were married on December 31, 1961 in Yuma, Arizona and made their home in El Centro. Sue had a daughter, Sandra Anne on September 16, 1962 and a son, Steven Armando on July 30, 1964 and was a homemaker to her husband and children. Sue was always available to attend her children's games and activities and made their home a happy and loving place. Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Armando Ruiz, mother Chana Soto, sister Rosemary Rodiles, father Estevan Soto, brothers in law Gabriel Ruiz and Robert Ruiz; sisters in law Delores Meyer and Emily Temple, father in law Manuel Ruiz and mother in law Martina Ruiz. Sue is survived by her daughter Sandy Pearson, son Steven Ruiz, granddaughters Krystle (Diego) Banda, Samantha (Austin) Kolander; grandsons Karch Pearson, Khyle (Crystal) Pearson, and Steven Ruiz; great grandchildren, Andruw Mitchell, Kane Banda, Kholt Pearson, Kali Pearson, Khylie Pearson, and Blaze Pearson; brother in law Gonzalo Ruiz, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Chris and Michelle Rodiles who took her into their home and cared for her after Armando's passing and to Eric Rodiles and Margo Steenhard who took a special interest in her and visited her often; they were more like additional children than nieces and nephews to her. A memorial service will be held on January 27, 2023 at Frye Chapel in Imperial from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Interment with her husband Armando at Mountain View Cemetery will be scheduled for a later date. Sue was a great Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt and will be dearly missed by all her family .
