Jose Gonzalez

Jose V. Gonzalez, lovingly known by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Wito", went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2026 in Yuma, AZ. He was born on August 23, 1938, in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico to the late Juan Gonzalez and Delfina Velasquez.

Jose was known for his devotion to his family, humility and strong work ethic. He dedicated over 50 years of his life to agriculture and was a resident of Calipatria, Ca since 1966. He recently moved to Holtville, Ca and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was married for 58 years to the love of his life Bertha Gonzalez and together they raised 6 children, who were the center of his life. Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who always put his family first.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bertha Gonzalez, his children Mario Gonzalez of El Centro, Xochitl Sussex (Renato) of Holtville, Arturo Gonzalez (Maribel) of Niland, Jose Gonzalez Jr (Sylvia) of Seeley, Juan Gonzalez (Judith) of San Luis, and Cristina Gonzalez of El Centro. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Jose was preceded by his parents, Juan Gonzalez and Delfina Velazquez, and his sister, Raquel. His legacy of faith, hard work and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6:00pm PST at St Patrick's Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm PST. A Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 9:00am PST at the same venue, followed by a graveside service at 10:30am PST at Riverview Cemetery.
