Jose Guadalupe D Martinez

Jose Guadalupe Martinez-Duran (Lupe/40), 72, of Holtville, California, was called to heaven April 21, 2022, with his wife by his side.Lupe was born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes Mexico on December 12, 1949 to Salvador Martinez-Romo and Maria Eustolia Duran-Martinez. He was the oldest of eight children. Lupe and his family left Aguascalientes and headed to Mexicali, Mexico in 1953, settling in Holtville, California in 1969. Lupe started his lifelong career as a businessman with his first business of a small gas station/mechanic shop in Holtville. This is where he met the love of his life, Mary, in 1976. They were married at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville in March 1977. Lupe was a hard-working man who owned many trucking companies throughout his lifetime. Lupe always had endless projects and never failed to have his next business venture lined up. He taught his brothers and others in the community what it took to become a successful truck driver. In 1985 Lupe and Mary opened Holtville Truck Scales where Lupe worked until his last day before he suffered a massive heart attack. Lupe was dedicated to helping the agriculture and trucking industry succeed in Imperial Valley.His passion was detailing his trucks with chrome and collecting classic cars, trucks, and hot rods.Lupe is preceded in death by his parents Salvador and Maria Eustolia Martinez and his brother Juan Martinez.Lupe is survived by his widow, Mary Andrade Martinez. Son Juan Rodriguez, his wife Brandy, and grandson Josiah. Son Jose Martinez Jr, his wife Beatrice, and grandchildren, Anahy, Joel, and Jase. Son Jesse Martinez, his wife Elizabeth, and grandchildren Matteo and Mila. Daughter Naomi Martinez, grandchildren Omar, Xochitl, and great-granddaughters Karen and Katherine. Daughter Joanna Montes and grandchildren Maximus, Unika, and Jayden. Daughter Marina Martinez. His siblings, Antonio (Maria), Salvador (Amira), Raul (Dora), Marcos (Patricia) Martinez, Maria Luisa (Francisco) Padilla, Maria Carmen (Tony) Delgado, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Rosary and viewing will begin promptly at 6:00 PM on May 6, 2022, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary located at 799 S. Brawley Ave Brawley, CA 92227.Funeral Services will be held on May 7, 2022, at St Joseph's Catholic Church located at 560 Maple Ave Holtville, CA 92250 with a final view at 8:00 AM and mass at 9:00 AM.Following mass, a procession of semi-trucks will follow Lupe to the Holtville Truck Scale, and family and friends will give their finally farewells.
