Josefina Larios, 69 years of age, of Holtville, California, passed away on March 18, 2026, just one day before her birthday. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she was surrounded by love and that her legacy will live on through all of us.
Josefina was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, to her parents, Augustin Davila and Irene Payan. From an early age, she carried a strength and determination that defined her life. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and incredible resilience.
She is survived by her loving husband, Baltazar Larios, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring love that became an example to their children and everyone around them. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, respect, and unconditional love.
Josefina was a devoted mother to her children, Zinnia and her husband Jake Petersen, and Adrian and his fiancé Lupe, and a proud and loving grandmother to Hudson, Zoey, and Adrian. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into caring for them, guiding them, and always being there when they needed her most.
She is also survived by her siblings—her sisters Alma, Irene, and Marina, and her brothers Edgardo, Augustin, Daniel, and Ricardo—who will forever cherish her memory.
Josefina worked several years at Bunny Luv Packing Company as a supervisor and truck driver. She then worked several years at Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo as a dental office secretary. She spent her remaining years as a homemaker, dedicating herself fully to her family. No matter where she was, she was known for her witty sense of humor, hard work, discipline, and strength. She never stopped giving, always putting her family first and making sure they had everything they needed.
Josefina was strong, caring, loving, and beautiful—inside and out. She was bold, fun, and full of life, someone who could bring people together and make everyone feel welcome. She was a leader in her family, a pillar that everyone leaned on, and a source of wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love.
Her faith in God guided her life. She loved going to church and lived her beliefs through her actions—through kindness, generosity, and the way she loved others so deeply. More than anything, Josefina loved spending time with her family—her kids, grandkids, siblings, and friends. Whether it was a simple moment together or a big family gathering, those were the times she cherished most.
Josefina showed us what it means to love selflessly, to work hard, and to sacrifice for the people you love. She taught us strength, faith, and the importance of family. Because of her, we are who we are today.
She was more than a mother and grandmother—she was our foundation, our guide, and our heart.
She will be deeply missed every day, but her love...we will carry with us always.
