Maria Eugenia Mendoza Lopez Obituary (1936 - 2024)

Maria Eugenia Lopez September 16, 1936- February 27, 2024 Maria was welcomed to her heavenly home on February 27, 2024. She was reunited with her husband of over 60 years. Together, Maria and Joseph raised their family and became pillars of their community of "Old Imperial." Maria dedicated her life to raising children. Aside from six children of her own, Maria helped raise many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless other children in the community. She was affectionately known as "Nana" to many. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her birds, and was the best cook around. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her sons-in-law Timothy Hutchinson and Danny Castleberry, her parents, and most of her siblings. She leaves behind her children Victor Lopez, Gena Hamme, Andy Lopez, Rosa Lopez, Cruz Lopez-Castleberry, and Ana Hutchinson, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A joint service for Maria and Joseph will be held Friday, April 12 at 10am at St. Anthony's Church in Imperial. A luncheon at the Eagles in El Centro will follow at noon.
